OpenAI DevDay 2026 announcements numbered 25 distinct launches on September 29, 2026. They ranged from a cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol model and a $500 ChatGPT Pro plan to always-on dots, a shared ChatGPT Space and an enterprise Marketplace. This is the fast, factual list: what each item is, who gets it and what it costs, as of September 30, 2026.

What are all the OpenAI DevDay 2026 announcements?

OpenAI showed 25 announcements at DevDay on September 29, 2026: one new model (GPT-6.1 Sol), a speed tier, a $500 plan, always-on agents, new Codex tools, shared workspaces in ChatGPT, plugin and sign-in features, and enterprise data and purchasing options. The table below covers every one.

How much does GPT-6.1 Sol cost?

GPT-6.1 Sol costs $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens and $10 per million output tokens in the OpenAI API (model ID gpt-6.1-sol). OpenAI says that is one-fifth of GPT-6 Astra’s $10, $1 and $50 rates, for near-Astra performance.

Sol is available in the API and in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. Sources differ on whether it has reached regular ChatGPT chat, so expect uneven rollout.

The performance claims are OpenAI’s own. As of September 30, 2026, Artificial Analysis scores Sol at 52 on its Intelligence Index, against 53 for Astra and 58 for Claude Opus 5.5, at $0.72 per task versus $3.26 for Astra. Sol is cheaper and close, not equal.

What is the Ultrafast tier and what does it cost?

Ultrafast is a premium speed tier that generates up to 300 tokens per second: up to 8x faster in Codex and up to 6x faster in the API. It costs up to six times normal rates, which puts GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast at $60 input and $300 output per million tokens.

Astra Ultrafast is live now. Sol Ultrafast is “coming soon.” Access sits in the API and in ChatGPT Work and Codex on Pro 500 and Enterprise. Pay the premium only where waiting costs you money, such as interactive coding sessions.

How much do the new ChatGPT Pro plans cost?

Pro 500 costs $500 per month and gives 25 times the ChatGPT Plus allowance, plus exclusive access to Ultrafast. Pro 200 stays at $200 per month, but from October 30, 2026 its Work and Codex allowance falls from 20x to 10x Plus. New Pro 200 sign-ups reopened on stage.

Existing Pro 200 subscribers keep current limits through October 29 and receive a one-time $2,500 usage credit that expires at the end of the year, according to The Next Web. Weekly GPT-6 Pro chat messages drop from 200 to 100. OpenAI pledged not to bring back the five-hour limit. One outlet mislabelled Pro 500 as a $200 plan; $500 is correct.

What are OpenAI dots and who can use them?

Dots are always-on personal AI agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer and browser. They come free with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium in eligible markets, and in beta for Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare when an admin turns them on. One dot is included per user.

You assign tasks, the dot works in the background and returns work for approval. It connects to more than 4,000 apps through plugins and reaches you in ChatGPT, Slack and Microsoft Teams. Texting and phone voice are “coming soon.” Our OpenAI dots guide explains setup and controls.

Safety controls include Custom Rules (allow, require approval or prohibit), an Activity View and read-only proactive research. Extra dots and heavy-use allowances have no announced price. Fortune reported dots are unavailable in the EU, Switzerland and the UK. BGR listed Pro 200 as the qualifying plan, while OpenAI’s Help Center says Pro. Trust the Help Center.

What did OpenAI add to its developer APIs at DevDay 2026?

OpenAI added computer use to the Agents API, launched a Decisions API in limited preview and announced Bedrock Managed Agents on AWS. Together they cover agents that operate software, fast routing and classification, and OpenAI agents running inside Amazon’s cloud.

The Agents API with computer use lets agents click, type and navigate software. It includes Codex’s multi-agent tools, tool search and context compaction, and OpenAI runs the infrastructure, so there is no self-hosting. In ChatGPT it reaches Codex and Work on Pro 500 and Enterprise only. Our earlier look at OpenAI Astra computer use gives the background.

The OpenAI Decisions API points Luna at a question with a fixed set of answers and returns a choice from text or images. Typical uses are content sorting, request routing and picking an agent’s next action. dev.to reports Luna rates of $0.10 input and $0.50 output per million tokens; other coverage says pricing is not announced. Broad release is due “in the coming days.”

Bedrock Managed Agents run OpenAI agents entirely inside AWS through Amazon Bedrock, which keeps data and procurement in one cloud. Plan restrictions differ by source, so confirm with AWS.

What did OpenAI announce for Codex at DevDay 2026?

OpenAI announced four Codex updates: cloud tasks you can run from any device, a refreshed command-line tool with voice steering, automatic Code Review and Codex Security Cloud for repository scanning. Most are included in paid plans with no separate fee. Developers comparing tools can start with our list of AI tools for developers.

• Codex cloud runs tasks remotely, including from a phone, with reusable environments and shared approved settings. Voice can start and steer tasks. Plus, Pro, Business, Healthcare, Edu and Enterprise.
• Refreshed Codex CLI adds voice steering and an /agents view to delegate and track several tasks. All plans.
• Code Review gives an automatic first pass in the ChatGPT desktop app, with feedback on GitHub pull requests and GitLab merge requests. All plans.
• Codex Security Cloud scans GitHub repositories on demand or on a schedule, checks every new commit, removes duplicate findings and prepares fixes. Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, with no separate application.

The security numbers so far are OpenAI’s internal results, reported by Simon Willison: 53 critical findings fixed on the first sprint day, 36% of discoveries duplicates and a 1% patch rollback rate. Treat them as unverified until independent teams test it.

What can ChatGPT Space, Pages and Meetings do for teams?

ChatGPT Space is a shared team hub where colleagues, ChatGPT and dots work from common project knowledge. Pages, collaborative slides, shared team tasks, Slack and Teams mentions and a Meetings plugin sit around it. Most need a Pro, Business or Enterprise plan, and none has a separate price.

ChatGPT Space stores files and AI-generated content, supports multi-user editing with comments, and is private by default. Pages are documents built for people and agents together. Collaborative slides arrive “in the next few weeks” with PowerPoint and Google Slides export. Space runs on desktop and web, with mobile later.

Teams and shared tasks let Business and Enterprise users delegate recurring work to a group. The ChatGPT Slack and Teams integration lets you mention @ChatGPT in channels, DMs and threads.

The ChatGPT Meetings plugin captures call audio and writes personalised summaries with action items into Space, per the OpenAI Help Center. It is a macOS beta on Pro and Business, with an Enterprise limited alpha. Sessions cap at 4 hours. iOS, Android and Windows are “coming soon.”

What are plugin extensions and Sign in with ChatGPT?

Plugin extensions let developers build sidebar homes, interactive panels and file viewers inside ChatGPT, on all plans. Sign in with ChatGPT lets people log in to third-party apps and spend their own plan allowance there. Both shift where developers build and who pays for the tokens.

Related plugin updates include a redesigned Plugin Creator and submission flow, directory rankings, plugins embedded in Sites (Business, Enterprise, Healthcare, Edu), support for the proposed MCP Events spec and shareable profiles for Business and Enterprise.

Sign in with ChatGPT counts eligible usage against the user’s plan limits, with usage controls. Identity is available globally. Plan usage covers Plus and Pro. OpenAI named 16 launch partners, including Devin, Notion and Vercel.

What are Private Intelligence and the OpenAI Marketplace?

Private Intelligence and the OpenAI Marketplace are the enterprise and data announcements. Private Intelligence adds Zero Data Retention with automated safety review that OpenAI staff cannot access. The Marketplace lets eligible enterprise customers spend their existing OpenAI spending commitments on partner software from other vendors.

Private Inference is a preview “coming this fall,” and access to Private Intelligence requires contacting OpenAI. No pricing was given.

The OpenAI Marketplace launched September 29 with 32 partners, including Adobe, Canva, Figma, Notion, Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot and ServiceNow. It is open to eligible enterprise customers only.

Was GPT-6.1 Astra released at DevDay 2026?

No. OpenAI said on September 28, 2026, the day before DevDay, that it will not release GPT-6.1 Astra. Safety head Saachi Jain said it “didn’t quite meet the bar in terms of staying within scope and authorization.” GPT-6 Astra remains available, and GPT-6.1 Sol shipped instead.

Which OpenAI DevDay 2026 announcements matter for L&D and training teams?

For learning and development teams, the most relevant OpenAI DevDay 2026 announcements are Space and Pages for shared course projects, the Meetings plugin for SME interviews, GPT-6.1 Sol for cheaper high-volume drafting, and dots for admin work. None replaces an LMS or authoring tool.

Instructional designers can keep learning objectives, SME notes and draft storyboards in one Space. Sol lowers the cost of drafting quiz banks or microlearning variants at volume, though a human still checks accuracy. Recording SME calls is useful only with consent and a data policy. Check regional limits first. Dots are reportedly unavailable in the UK and EU, and Enterprise access is off by default. None of the announcements we reviewed mentions SCORM or xAPI output, so packaging still happens in your existing tools.

Conclusion

Pick the announcements that touch your work this quarter and test only those. If you write code, try Sol and Codex cloud on a real task. If you lead a team, trial Space with one project.

Check your plan and region against the table first, since availability differs sharply between Pro, Business and Enterprise. Re-check prices before budgeting, as several details are still undisclosed.
